Aim
To provide the theoretical and practical knowledge to drive safely an industrial tractor with or without trailers.
Elements
The course will comprise theoretical and practical instruction covering the following:
2.1 Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
2.2 Pre-shift checks.
2.3 Preventative maintenance.
2.4 Battery maintenance and charging procedures.
2.5 Safety code and regulations.
2.6 Manoeuvring in open and confined areas.
2.7 The loading and stability of trailers.
Knowledge
On competion of training candidates will have a theoretical understanding of the following:
3.1 Responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
3.2 Pre-shift checks and daily maintenance.
3.3 The maintenance and charging of batteries.
3.4 Safety regulations.
3.5 Factors affecting stability.
Skill
On completion of training the candidate will be able to:
4.1 Carry out pre-shift checks on both tractor and trailers.
4.2 Carry out battery maintenance and charging procedures.
4.3 Drive and operate the tractor safely and efficiently with or without trailers.
4.4 Load trailers safely and correctly to maintain stability.
